The Dutchwoman Marianne Vos (Team Visma – Lease a Bike) won the one-day cycling race Omloop Het Nieuwsblad on Saturday. The best Polish woman, Katarzyna Niewiadoma (Canyon/SRAM), finished seventh in Belgium.
The podium was completed by Belgian Lotte Kopecky (Team SD Worx – Protime) and Italian Elisa Longo Borghini (Lidl – Trek). On the 127.1 km route from Ghent to Ninove, the top three achieved a time of 3:27.15.
Niewiadoma finished third in the pursuit group with a loss of 1.08. The opening race of the cycling season in Belgium was finished in 37th place by her groupmate Agnieszka Skalniak-Sójka – 2.08 behind.

Earlier on Saturday, in the 79th edition of the men’s classic Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, Slovenian Jan Tratnik (Visma) triumphed, ahead of German Nils Politt (UAE Team Emirates) and fellow Belgian Wout van Aert.
