The Parallel Giant Slalom Snowboard World Cup in Krynica-Zdrój is at the halfway point. On the first day of the historic competition, the best were Austrian Andreas Prommegger and German Ramona Theresia Hofmeister.

After a gloomy and rainy Friday, Krynica-Zdrój welcomed the best snowboarders in the world with beautiful sunshine and temperatures exceeding 10 degrees Celsius.
The hosts were also exceptionally hospitable. Out of the large group of 13 White and Reds, only Kwiatkowski advanced to the 1/8 finals . The current world champion achieved the third qualifying time, losing only to Italian Edwin Coratti and Korean Sangho Lee.

KWIATKOWSKI LOST THE FIGHT FOR THE QUARTERFINALS

But in the final phase, the Pole appeared on the slope only once. In the 1/8 finals he started in the last pair with Austrian Benjamin Karl. On a very beaten track, Kwiatkowski had to acknowledge the superiority of the Olympic champion. He lost by 0.81 s and he must wait until Sunday for another chance to improve his place in the general World Cup classification.

Ultimately, the best performance among the Austrians in the competition was not Obmann (fourth place), but Prommegger, who defeated the Italian Roland Fischnaller in the grand final. Another Italian representative, Daniele Bagozza, completed the podium.
